With the rapid development of society, industrialization and urbanization, the problem of air pollution is becoming more and more serious, and people's attention to air quality is also increasing. In order to improve indoor air quality, more and more families and offices begin to use air purifiers. Recently, however, there is a view that "there is no environmental threat with low air purification hazard", trying to deny the possible negative impact of air purification technology on environmental protection. The purpose of this paper is to explore whether there is really no environmental threat to air purification equipment, and advocate a more scientific and reasonable view of this problem.

First of all, it needs to be clear that air purification products under high quality standards do not constitute environmental pollution sources themselves. Modern air purification technology mainly removes harmful substances such as suspended particles (such as PM2.5), bacteria and viruses in the air through filters, or purifies the air by negative ion generators, and these processes basically do not produce secondary pollution. However, this does not mean that all air purification equipment sold in the market is absolutely safe and reliable. Some inferior products may have defects in materials and design, and may release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde during long-term operation, which will do harm to human health; In addition, some low-end models still have problems such as high power consumption and noise disturbing people.

From a broader perspective, the large-scale popularization of high-energy air purification devices will indeed have a certain impact on energy consumption and carbon emissions. Although the demand for electricity increased by using air purifiers in a single household is relatively small, if it is widely promoted around the world, it will significantly increase the overall electricity consumption. In view of the fact that most countries still rely on fossil fuels to generate electricity, this means that more greenhouse gases will be discharged into the atmosphere, thus aggravating the problem of global climate change. Therefore, we can't ignore the indirect environmental burden caused by over-reliance on air purification.

To sum up, the statement that "there is no environmental threat with low air purification hazard" is too one-sided. Although the high-efficiency air purification equipment purchased through formal channels and used correctly can obviously improve the air quality of individuals and even small spaces, its potential environmental cost can not be ignored. As consumers, we should choose those products that meet the energy-saving certification standards and use them appropriately in combination with the actual situation; At the same time, support and participate in afforestation and other activities to offset the carbon footprint caused by the use of electrical appliances.
